Car-Wash Shop Operator Loses RM80,000 In Fire

GEORGE TOWN, Nov 13 (Bernama) — A car-wash shop operator lost more than RM80,000 when one of his cars was razed while the front portion of another car was also burnt at his business premises in Arratoon Road, here early Thursday morning.
Syed Amim Zainul Abidin, 46, claimed that the fire at 1am, which was believed to have been caused by someone he knew, also damaged his office, television set, air conditioner, several tables and chairs.
“I suspect there were certain people involved in the incident because at 8.30pm last night, two men whom I know had contacted me and threatened to burn the car-wash shop as he was angry with me over a family problem.
“I did not heed the threat because I had received a similar threat previously, but at 1.30am, I received a telephone call from the police informing me that the car-wash shop was burnt,” he said at a press conference, here Thursday.
Syed Amim said he had rushed to the scene from his house in Bandar Perda, Bukit Mertajam, near here and found that a Proton Perdana car which was in the premises was razed while the front portion of a Toyota Altis car parked beside the Proton Perdana was also burnt.
Syed Amim, who has four car-wash shops in the state with 80 workers, said a section of the electrical wiring including the wiring to install the CCTV at the premises was also burnt.
