Updated: 2014-11-17-18:09

KAVRE: A 21-year-old youth lost his life in a fire near Kavre district headquarters Dhulikhel on Monday; despite he was found alive by locals.

Ashish Uprety (21) of Madhyapur Thimi-16, Bhaktapur was found in a fire at a forest in Kavre Nityachandeshwori-9, beside the BP Highway at around 9:45 am today.

Locals had contained the fire after noticing smokes pillowing from a bush in the jungle. The youth was alive till the time they almost extinguished the fire.

“Then we informed the District Police Office (DPO), Dhulikhel,” said a local, “He was not dead till we doused the fire.”

But, few minutes later, the youth breathed his last.

Police called his parents – Hem and Sunita – to identify the body. Both of the parents, however, fell unconscious after seeing the burned body of their son.

DPO Chief, SSP Puja Singh, said police are yet to find out whether it was a suicide or a murder.

Police recovered a water bottle from the incident site, whereas his Avenger motorcycle (Ba 49 Pa 7759) was found a kilometre away from the site.

Preliminary police investigation found that petrol from own bike was used to ignite the fire.

Uprety was a BBA student at the Apex College in the Capital.

Family sources revealed that he had left home for college this morning.

It has been learnt that he appeared depressed for last one week.
