Gas cylinder explosion leaves 2 dead in Rautahat

RAUTAHAT: Two persons including an Indian national died and two others were critically injured when a cooking gas cylinder exploded at a fiest in Kanakpur VDC of Rautahat on Wednesday night.
According to the District Police Office, Rautahat, the deceased have been identified as Kanaiya Sah Rauniyar (35) of Chandrapur Municipality-1 and Amit Sah Rauniyar (30) of Sitamadi, India.
Manoj Sah of Chandrapur-5 and Salim Miya of Kanakpur-2 were injured in the incident.
The incident took place at a fiest organised in the premises of Kanakpur-6-based Ram Temple on the occasion of Bala Chaturdashi, police said.
SP Sanubabu Thapaliya said that the gas cylinder of a tea shop belonging to Mohan Sah of Chandrapur exploded due to gas leakage at around 9 pm yesterday.
As soon as Sah saw the gas cylinder catching fire, he quickly threw it outside his tea shop and it exploded with a loud noise. Unfortunately, the deceased duo were walking along the same place where the cylinder blew off. Police said that they died on the spot.
Police said that the bodies of Rauniyar duo have been taken to the Chandranigahapur Hospital for postmortem.
