Fire guts CAT telecom branch office

A fire at a branch office of CAT Telecom in Si Sa Ket province on Friday afternoon caused an estimated 10 million baht damage, but the office was closed at the time and no one was hurt.
Police received a report of the fire at the three-storey building on Thepa Road in Muang district of the northeastern province about 1pm.
Fire trucks and crews were rushed the scene and brought the blaze under control in about 20 minutes.
Ninat Chantra, 47, a CAT technician, said there was nobody working in the office as it was a public holiday.
Damage to the building and contents was intitially estimated at 10 million baht. Police were still investigating the cause of the fire.
CAT Telecom is a state-owned agency that runs the country’s international telecommunications infrastructure.
