Fire engulfs house; minors burnt to death

RUKUM: Two girls of a family were burnt to death when a fire broke out in a under-construction house in Bijayashwori of Rukum on Wednesday.
Daughters of Nar Bahadur BK and Bhadrakala, aged one and nine, died in the fire.
Bhadrakala has fallen unconscious after the death of her daughter. Her husband, who had left for work to earn money to complete the house, is in India.
“She regains consciousness only intermittently and whenever she is awake, she asks for her daughters,” said Shyam Nepali, a relative of Bhadrakala. According to Shyam, Nar Bahadur has been informed about the incident and is on way back home.
The kin of the family are taking care of the bereaved mother for now. According to sources, Chief District Officer Hari Prasad Bhandari, of Rukum, has granted Rs 85,000 from District Natural Disaster Fund to the victim. Likewise, Nepal Red Cross Society Chaurjahari sub-chapter has provided food, utensils, tent and necessary clothes to Bhadrakala.
