A blaze on early Friday morning destroyed 23 stores in Ba Don Market in central Quang Binh Province, causing huge amounts of damage to wholesale goods being reserved for Tet. No fatalities were recorded, but about VND20 billion (US$0.9 million) in goods and infrastructure were lost. The fire started at an electronics store at 2a.m., and market watchmen lost control of it due to heavy winds.
