Dadeldhura fire victims sans compensation

DADELDHURA: An inferno that razed Baghbazaar in Dadeldhura headquarters last Saturday has rendered many traders and entrepreneurs homeless.
The fire that turned property worth millions of rupees into ashes has left many people in a lurch here.
Gopal Singh Madai is a trader at Dadeldhura Bagarkot. Just a year ago, he had sold /a furniture industry in the Tarai and opened a shoe shop at Baghkhor. Madai could not save anything barring clothes he and his family members wore. Pointing to the debris, he lamented, “Property worth Rs 5 million was destroyed in the fire.”
Most of the sops in the headquarters had pulled down their shutters as it was Saturday. The Madai family had gone to bed after dinner in the room attached to the shop.
“We were awakened due to commotion outside,” Gopal recalled. When I came out, I saw the shop next to mine on fire, he said. In a few minutes, the blaze engulfed my shop. Fortunately, I managed to rescue all of my family members, recounted Gopal.
Gopal and his family are sheltering at his neighbour’s house. I lost not only my shop but also Rs 1.5 million cash in the fire, he lamented. I do not know what I will do next,” Gopal wondered.
