Fire destroys CamSur fishing port staff house
Updated: 2015-01-15-13:16
A fire of undetermined origin razed the staff house of a fishing port in Camaligan town in Camarines Sur province on Monday.
The fire spread quickly due to the strong wind and because the structure was made of light materials, GMA Bicol’s Mark Bongat reported Wednesday.
Initial investigation showed the fire razed the second floor of the structure and the office at the ground floor.
The port manager said they had difficulty seeking help from the Bureau of Fire Protection as they did not have a telephone line.
Bureau of Fire Protection Camaligan’s SFO4 Mario Catanero said an electrical short circuit is one of the possible causes they are verifying.
An electrical inspection is being planned for the buildings inside the port after the port manager noted the electrical wiring there has not been changed since 1992.
