More Than 20 Houses Razed In Fire In Tawau

TAWAU, Jan 23 (Bernama) — More than 20 houses were destroyed in a blaze in Kg Saadani, Batu 2, Jalan Apas, this evening.
Sabah Fire and Rescue Department public relations officer Mohd Affendy K Ramin said the department received a call on the fire at 3.13 pm.
“Two fire engines and two multi-purpose vehicles with 29 personnel headed by officer Noraini Jumdani rushed to the location. Upon arrival, 80 per cent of the houses were already destroyed,” he said in a statement here today.
He said the fire was brought under control at 4.30 pm while the cause and estimated losses were being investigated.
Meanwhile, Tawau Welfare officer, Asnah Kassim when contacted said the department was registering the victims and those who have no relatives would be housed at a mosque in the area.
