Fire breaks out at Metech Recycling; workers evacuate factory building

SINGAPORE – A fire broke out at Metech Recycling (Singapore) at 65 Tech Park Crescent on Monday afternoon.
A spokesman from the Singapore Civil Defence Force said that they received the call at 3pm, and they sent down two fire engines, two Red Rhinos, two support vehicles, one fire bike and one ambulance.
The fire was brought under control in 30 minutes using three water jets. A total of 20 people were evacuated and there were no injuries. The SCDF said that the fire appeared to have originated in the exhaust ducting.
When The Straits Times visited the scene, the fire had already been put out, and the SCDF were in the process of flushing out the place with water. Around 30 office workers and factory workers could be seen waiting outside the factory.
