Updated: 2015-02-04-08:12
Plastic materials and electrical goods, including motors, were gutted in huge quantity in a fire that broke out in a plastic unit at Dabholi here on Tuesday. There were no casualties in the fire.
Five fire fighters and five water tankers helped extinguish the fire. Hundreds of fire brigade personnel were involved in the operation that lasted two hours.
The fire was caused by sparks from an electrical motor at Devarshi Polymer at the ground floor. The fire started at the ground floor and there were workers on the first floor of the shed. However, they escaped unhurt, fire brigade sources said.
“The unit belonged to Balwantsinh H Parmar. He had installed fire extinguishers in the unit but his staff did not know how to operate them,” fire officer A H Dodhiya said.
