Car Workshop Owner Losses RM300,000 In Fire

MELAKA, Feb 11 (Bernama) — The owner of a car workshop in Kampung Padang, Jalan Pokok Mangga, suffered losses amounting to about RM300,000 in a fire today.
The owner of the premises, David Heng, 30, when met said he received a call from a neighbour about the fire at 2am and upon arrival at the scene, the blaze which was at its peak had destroyed two one-ton lorries, three motorcycles and a car.
Meanwhile, Melaka Fire and Rescue Department Public Relations Officer, Mohd Hafidzatullah Rashid said 20 firemen in three engines managed to douse the blaze at around 4.29am.
On another incident, Hafidzatullah said a mini market in Tanjung Kling, here was gutted by fire.
He said 13 firemen in three engines were rushed to the scene after receiving a distress call at about 5am.
He said firemen arrived at the site 10 minutes later and brought the fire under control in about 20 minutes.
