2 shops in Bhaktapur catch fire

KATHMANDU: Property worth Rs 1.1 million was destroyed when two adjacent shops caught fire in Anantalingeshwor of Bhaktapur on Friday. A quilt shop owned by Indian national Sadare Alam in Anantalingeshwor Municipality-12 had caught fire yesterday. Later it was expanded to an adjacent cosmetic shop owned by Rina Baniya, according to police. Valuables worth Rs 683,000 at Alam’s shop and worth Rs 420,000 at Baniya’s were gutted in the blaze. Fire engines, assisted by locals, contained the fire. Police are looking into the case.
