KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 23 (Bernama) — A kitchen utensil wholesaler could only watch a fire raze his four-storey shop at Jalan Yew, Pudu here early today with losses estimated at RM2 million.
The shopowner, Tan Fatt Jue, 72, said the 4.10am fire destroyed what he had worked for in the past 30 years.
Various utensils made of glass, plastic, PVC and other materials including those in the store were gutted in the incident.
“After receiving a call from a colleague, I rushed to the site to see fire blazing at my business premises,” he told reporters at the scene.
Meanwhile, Kuala Lumpur Fire and Rescue Department assistant director (operations) Azizan Ismail said his team was hindered by obstructions at the building stairs which had highly inflammable materials.
