Three Family Members Killed In Accident In Kota Marudu

KOTA KINABALU, Mar 1 (Bernama) — Three family members were killed when the motorcycle they were on caught fire after colliding with a pick-up truck in Jalan Kampung Tanah Merah, Kota Marudu, at about 8.20pm yesterday.
Kota Marudu District Police chief Supt Mohd Isa Yusof said the Jafry Maun, 27, was burnt to death while his wife Lily Marni Gilong, 24, and son Freedy Jafry, two, died at the scene.
Mohd Isa said the pick-up truck which was traveling from Kudat to Kota Marudu was believed to have lost control before entering the opposite lane and hitting the motorcycle.
The 47-year-old driver was not injured, but was arrested for allegedly driving while intoxicated, he said in a statement here today.
In KUDAT, a male driver died and three others were seriously injured in an accident involving three vehicles at Kilometer 30.3 of the Kudat-Kota Kinabalu route last night.
Kudat District Police chief Dawi Ossen said the incident occured at about 11.30pm when a vehicle which was coming from Kudat entered into the opposite lane and collided with two other vehicles that were traveling from Kota Kinabalu.
The victim, Musa Bakat, 52, died at the scene while Fatimah Mani, 44, Musadun Tomlok, 24, and Ruziah Tomlok, 29, suffered severe injuries.
The two other drivers did not suffer any injuries, said Dawi.
