Shop Selling Motorcycle Replacement Parts Razed, Losses RM1 Million

BUKIT MERTAJAM, March 2 (Bernama) — A motorcycle parts dealer lost more than RM1 million when his shop in Lorong Gemilang 3, Taman Gemilang, here, was razed early Monday morning.
The owner, who only wanted to be nown as Teoh, in his 40s, said his father received a call from a member of the public who saw black smoke billowing from the shop at 3.15am.
“We are not ruling out faulty electrical wiring behind the cause of the fire as my family shop has been operating at the premises for the past 15 years.
“We stored motorcycle replacement parts including a large amount of new stocks at the shop,” he said here.
Bandar Perda Fire and Rescue Station (chief operation officer) Fire and Rescue Senior Officer 11 Azhari Md Isa said the station received a call on the fire at 3.35am, and took 20 minutes to control the fire.
