Charred Body Found In Car In Bukit Damansara

KUALA LUMPUR, March 5 (Bernama) — The charred body of a man was found in a burnt Perodua Myvi car owned by a VIP, in an open space on a hillock in Bukit Damansara, here, Thursday.
The car was totally destroyed by the fire, and until this news was written the identity of the victim had not been identified.
From police investigation on the car chassis number, it was found that the car owner is a Tan Sri living in a housing area nearby and the car is believed to be used by his son.
Brickfields district police chief, ACP Muhammad Azlee Abdullah said police received a call at 10.34am on the incident from a security guard in the area.
Firemen who arrived at the scene managed to put out the fire and found a burnt body inside the car.
Muhammad Azlee said according to the 80-year-old Tan Sri, his car was driven by his son who went out at 9am, and that his son had Alzheimer’s disease and needed to take his medication regularly.
He said the body could not be identified and was sent to hospital for DNA comparison to identify the victim.
“There were no signs of foul play at the scene. The forensics team will conduct an investigation to determine the cause of the fire,” he said.
Sri Hartamas Fire and Rescue Station chief, Rodzlan Othman said they received a distress call at 10.27am and when the firemen arrived, the car was 50 per cent burnt.
“We managed to put out the fire by about 11.03am and found the charred body inside the car. We could not determine the victim’s gender.
“The body was then taken away by police for further investigation ” he told reporters at the scene.
Firemen found a portable folded chair and two lighters in the burnt car, he added.
