Fire At Landfill In Slim River

IPOH, March 5 (Bernama) — More than 1.6 hectares of landfill in Kampung Penderas, Slim River, caught fire causing thick smoke to engulf the area Thursday.
Slim River Fire and Rescue station chief, Md Zin Mohd Faaidin said five firemen in two engines took about an hour to control the fire and another two hours to douse the flame.
The fire started about 8 pm, he said when contacted by BERNAMA.
He did not rule out the possibility of the fire triggered by the hot weather.
A fire was also reported at the landfill near the Incinerator Centre at Pulau Pangkor in Sungai Pinang Kecil, Thursday.
The fire and rescue station was alerted on the fire about 6.40 am.
