Property gutted in Saptari fire

RAJBIRAJ: Property worth Rs 9.5 million was destroyed while two hardware shops in Kanchanrup Municipality of Saptari caught fire on Friday.
Ma Kankalini Hardware and Krishna Hardware in Kanchanpur Bazaar, Kanchanrup-5, caught fire due to electric short circuit, police said.
The shops were located at the three-storey building owned by Shalik Ram Gupta.
Police and army officials doused the fire within three hours of the incident, according to police.
Locals have claimed that water poured to contain fire also destroyed property worth Rs 1.5 million at the adjacent Kanchan Book Shop.
