4 suffocate, P3M worth of property destroyed in Davao fire
Updated: 2015-03-09-12:12
At least four people suffocated while some P3 million in property was destroyed in a fire at a tailoring and merchandising shop in Davao City early Monday.
Firefighters managed to rescue the four and rushed them to a hospital for treatment and recovery, GMA Davao reported.
Rescue teams said the four who suffocated included a child.
Photos posted by GMA Davao’s Helen Quiñanola showed some of the people rescued from the burning establishment.
An initial investigation showed the fire started at an adjacent fast-food outlet. A front desk personnel of a nearby inn saw the fire and summoned firefighters via the city’s Central 911.
But the fire spread quickly as the establishments – including a tactical shop – were bunched tightly together.
Some people were rescued from the second floor of one of the affected establishments.
Arson investigators estimate the damage to property at P3 million.
