A fire at the Government Public Library in Natore has damaged books, furniture and several years’ newspapers kept in the archive.
The library’s administration building at Bhabaniganj caught fire on Sunday morning.
Natore fire service spokesperson Abdur Rouf said they put out the fire around 7am.
But the cause of the fire could not be known immediately.
Books, furniture and a newspaper archive were gutted, Rouf said.
Government establishments like land record offices have been set on fire by blockade supporters throughout the BNP-led alliance’s ongoing blockade.
Natore Sadar Police Station Mohammad Abu Taher said they were investigating whether it was an act of sabotage.
