Two die in Cagayan de Oro fire

A fire in a residential area in Cagayan de Oro on Thursday afternoon killed two people before it was put out.
The fire occurred at Yacapin Street in Barangay 35 in Cagayan de Oro City, GMA Northern Mindanao reported.
Most of the houses were made of light materials, allowing the fire to spread quickly. Photos posted by GMA Northern Mindanao’s Jeik Compo showed firefighters rushing to the scene.
Initial information indicated the two fatalities were boarders in one of the houses.
A photo posted by “24 Oras Northern Mindanao” showed a woman wounded after she was hit by debris.
Up to 200 houses were reported destroyed in the fire.
The fire started at about 3 p.m. and reached the fourth alarm before it was put out at 4 p.m.
While the fire was in progress, several explosions, believed to be of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) tanks were heard.
Investigators are still determining what caused the fire.
