Updated: 2012-11-30-15:43
KOTA BAHARU, Nov 30 (Bernama) — A man braved a raging fire to save his teenage daughter from the top floor of one of three burning shophouses in Kampung Pasir Tumboh here Friday.
Rozman Mahmud, 44, rushed to the top floor of his shophouse, kicked down the door to the bedroom of his second child, Nusyafikah, 14, and brought the girl out safely in the 9.30 am incident.
He was alerted to the fire by a security guard at the Malaysian Agricultural Research and Development Institute (Mardi) office located across the road.
“I was helping my wife manage our restaurant on the ground floor when the security guard said he saw smoke coming out of a second-floor window.
“I immediately ran upstairs, kicked down the door of my daughter’s bedroom despite the raging flames and brought her down safely,” he said after the heroic feat.
