Multiple bushfires ablaze in Menglait

THREE separate incidences of bushfires occurring on a plot of land in Simpang 51-21, Kampong Menglait, happened on Saturday.
The fire first occurred around 1.30pm and caused smoke to rise from the area. A team of firefighters in two fire engines from the Berakas Fire Station and a Women Operation Unit rushed to the scene after receiving emergency calls from the public.
They managed to extinguish the fire in several minutes using a fire hose and beaters.
Meanwhile, later at 5pm, a similar incident occurred again at the same location, which did not cause as much damage as the first fire, prompted the same firefighting unit that initially doused the fire to rush back to the scene.
The last incident occurred around 9pm and the bushfire completely burnt everything in its immediate area of affect. To prevent further incidences, the firefighters had to dampen the charred remains of earth and to thoroughly inspect the area for potential flash sources.
According to an eyewitness, the fire was caused due to the current hot and dry weather and a peat swamp spot in the land that caused the fire to re-ignite.
