Chittagong slum fire kills 60-year-old

A 60-year-old has been killed in a slum fire in Chittagong’s Bayezid area in the early hours of Friday.
The fire broke out around 3am at the Astana Colony slum in Arefin Nagar, Bayezid Police Sub Inspector Md Alamgir said.
Fire service Divisional Officer Prahlad Singh said that four fire-fighting units doused the flames around 4:45am.
About 28-30 slum dwellings have been gutted.
SI Alamgir said Abdul Ali, who lived in the slum with his son and daughter, was burnt to death.
Fire service estimated the losses to be around Tk 300,000.
