Fire at Subhanpura apartment

A fire broke out at an apartment in Subhanpura area on Wednesday following a short-circuit in an electric panel. The third-floor apartment was locked when the incident happened and no casualties were reported.
Fire brigade officials said the fire broke out at the Golden Block of the Golden-Silver Apartments around 3.30 pm. It gutted the entire kitchen from where it started. The inferno was brought under control before it could spread to other apartments.
The resident Desai family had left their home around 2 pm. “Our son had his exams 3 pm onwards so we had gone to drop him and were then supposed to meet an ailing relative. Sometime after 3 pm our neighbours called me telling that they could see smoke coming out of our kitchen window,” said Raju Desai.
Though the fire did not spread, many plastic items in the house had melted, officials said.
