13 mountain fires on first day of Tomb-sweeping Festival
Updated: 2015-04-09 10:58
Fangchenggang’s fire brigade received 13 mountain fire alarms on April 4, the first day of the Tomb-sweeping Festival. One of the fires was in Shangsi county, three in Dongxing city, six in Gangkou district and the rest three in Fangcheng district.
During the Tomb-sweeping Festival, many people went to mountains to sacrifice and sweep tombs. Because the plants hadn’t turned green from the last winter, it was easy to break out of fire. Almost all the mountain fires during the festival were triggered by people burning paper money. People held a fluke mind that they could control the flame, which was always the reason that caused a conflagration.
