A fire that broke out at 3:30pm today destroyed a 2,000-sq.m cotton and textile recycling workshop in Pham Van Hai Commune in HCM City’s Binh Chanh District.
Soon after the Phuong Dong workshop caught fire, workers tried to extinguish the blaze. But because of the large volume of stored cotton, the fire spread to other areas of the shop.
Fire police of Binh Chanh District arrived at the site together with 10 fire trucks.
As of 4:30pm, the fire was still not under control.
Workers said the fire started from a electrical short circuit. There had been no electricity yesterday morning at the shop, so several workers chose not to work. The fire occurred when the power returned later that day.
