Inayawan bunkhouse catches fire
Updated: 2015-04-19-12:00
Around P20,000 worth of damage was reported after a fire hit a bunkhouse in Sitio Upper Torre, Barangay Inayawan, Cebu City yesterday morning.
The Cebu City Fire Department received the fire alarm at 9:15 a.m. The fire was raised to first alarm status which means all Cebu City fire trucks and fire volunteers were asked to respond.
The fire was under control by 9:20 a.m. and was declared fire out at 11:38 a.m.
City fire marshal Rogelio Bongabong said the fire originated at the bunkhouse owned by Dominador Vale.
Bongabong said the initial investigation showed that someone could have thrown a cigarette butt in the area that must have started the fire that eventually spread to the stocks of animal feeds inside the bunkhouse.
Bongabong said the fire totally burned Vale’s bunkhouse since it was made of light materials.
Fortunately, the firefighters were able to reach the fire scene earlier and immediately put out the fire before it could cause more damage.
No casualties were reported.
