2 Policemen Injured As Van Driver Forces Patrol Car To Crash Into House

BUTTERWORTH, April 15 (Bernama) — Two police corporals were injured when the driver of a van forced a patrol car they were travelling in, to skid and crash into the pillar of a house in Jalan Seri Ara 1 here early today.
One of the policemen sustained a fracture on the left hand while the other injured his left index finger in the 6am incident.
The policemen, aged 48 and 52, were warded at the Seberang Jaya Hospital.
Seberang Perai Utara district police chief, ACP Abdul Rahman Ibrahim said about 6am, the two policemen were on duty in their patrol car when they spotted a van whose driver behaved suspiciously.
He said at that juncture, when the policemen trailed the van on their patrol car, the van driver drove the vehicle aggressively and grazed the patrol car several times.
“The policemen gave chase and one of them fired a warning shot before the van skidded and crashed into the patrol car which hit the pillar of a house. The driver escaped from the scene,” he added.
Abdul Rahman said initial investigations revealed the van was reported stolen in Sungai Nibong recently.
