Greater Jakarta: Pondok Indah Mall I catches fire

An explosion caused by a leaking gas canister triggered a fire at a bakery shop in the Pondok Indah Mall I (PIM I) in South Jakarta on Monday afternoon.
A firefighter with the Fire Agency’s South Jakarta Office, Suparman, said the blaze occurred around 2:30 p.m. and his office deployed eight fire trucks to extinguish it.
“The fire was extinguished in an hour,” he said, as quoted by tribunnews.com.
Suparman said the cause of the fire was probably the explosion of the leaking cooking gas.
In late February this year, a small fire also occurred in Pondok Indah Mall II building, which is across from PIM I. That fire was caused by a short circuit in an elevator’s electrical system.
