Five shops were gutted in fire at Kellai Bazra under Ghior upazila early yesterday. The fire originated from a short circuit at the shop of Mokhter Hossain at around 12:30 am and engulfed the other four adjacent shops at the Haque Market, said Abdur Rauf Molla, owner of the market. The loss of property in the fire was estimated at Tk 9 lakh, the owner of the shops claimed. The five shops are — Khan Pharmacy, two groceries of Ramzan Ali and Ahmad Ali, a hotel of Mokhtar Hossain and furniture shop of Abdul Aziz.
