Fire razes shell craft shop
Updated: 2015-04-26-00:00

A fire hit a shell craft shop in sitio Tabok Lamac, Barangay Yati, Liloan early morning yesterday.

Senior Fire Officer 3 Bob Bola-Bola, Liloan Fire Station Investigator, said they received the alarm at 6:30 a.m.

The firefighters immediately responded and declared the fire under control 10 minutes after.

Senior Fire Officer 3 Bola-Bola said that the shop was owned by Dionesio Balbutin, who is engaged in exporting shell crafts and furniture.

Bola-Bola said the residents noticed a spark around 6:20 a.m. before the fire started.

He said that the shop was easily razed since it was only made of light materials.

They also encountered a difficulty reaching the place since the road was too narrow.

The fire trucks of the towns of Compostela and Consolacion and of the cities of Danao, Mandaue and of the Cebu Filipino Chinese Fire Brigade also responded to the alarm.

According to Bola-Bola, the damage is estimated to reach P200,000.

Initial investigation revealed that the electrical connection of the circuit breaker was loose and might have caused the spark.

Next to the circuit breaker were flammable liquid wastes that may have fueled the fire.

“Sulod sa ilang working area naay poste, didto nahimotang breaker may splicing naluag ni-spark, naa’y waste flammable liquid,” Bola-Bola said.

Bola-Bola said that they will have to get the affidavits from the witnesses since nobody was in the shop when the fire broke out.
