Fire breaks out in Tampines flat

SINGAPORE – A fire broke out on the second floor of Block 317 Tampines Street 33 at around 8pm on Sunday evening.
Residents said they saw smoke billowing out of the master bedroom window, and the fire, which was licking the walls.
The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) were at the scene and residents from nearby units were evacuated, according to an eye-witness.
Ms Nazihah Rashid, who stays on the fourth floor, said: “People were also trying to put out the fire from the multistorey carpark next door before firemen arrived.”
The 24-year-old, who works in a non profit, said a large crowd had already gathered at the first floor by 8pm.
Several passers-by posted up images and reports on Twitter of the fire.
The Straits Times understands that there are no casualties.
