Fire sweeps through Chiang Mai squatter community, one killed

A massive fire burned down 25 houses in a squatter community in Mueang Chiang Mai district at 8:40 pm Sunday, killing one person and causing over 100 others to become homeless, police said.
Fire fighters backed by over ten fire engines took over two hours to control the blaze. A charred body, believed to be a woman, was found at the house where the fire started.
