Fire in another glass facade building

A fire broke out in another glass facade building in Vile Parle (East) on Saturday morning. All the people inside the building managed to come out and no one was injured, said the police.
The fire started from the airconditioning unit inside a builder’s office on the 13th floor of Padmavati Heights. On Saturday morning, one of his employees came to office and switched on the AC. He noticed that the unit had caught fire and alerted others. There were around 25 people inside the building and they all escaped unhurt.
Four fire engines were rushed to the spot and the fire was brought under control after two hours. A short-circuit caused the fire, officials said.
The Vile Parle police registered an accidental fire report and are probing the details. The police said all documents in the builder’s office were destroyed in the fire.
“The building had no occupation certificate, despite which most of the premises were occupied. The building firefighting system was also not working. ,” said former MLA Krishna Hegde.
