Fire put out in Dhaka Cantonment building

A fire that broke out in a multi-storey building inside the Dhaka Cantonment has been put out.
The 13-storey ‘Banalata Tower’ on the Staff Road is a residential complex for army personnel.
Fire service control room Duty Officer Bhajan Kumar Sarkar said the fire broke out on the 10th floor on Monday evening.
Nine firefighting units brought the flame under control after ninety minutes.
“The area is inside the cantonment,” he said. “Army personnel live there.”
However, the cause of the fire and the extent of damage could not be known immediately.
