Fire hits part of power plant in Cebu’s Naga City

A fire believed caused by an electrical short circuit hit a portion of a power plant in Naga City in Cebu early Saturday.
The fire at a portion of the KEPCO power plant started at about 4:45 a.m., RGMA Cebu’s Kit Matos Cortez reported on dzBB radio.
An initial information showed the fire hit a portion where coal and carbon was stored.
Mayor Valdemar Chiong cited initial information indicating the fire stemmed from an electrical short circuit.
While the fire was deemed contained as of 8 a.m., firefighters had a hard time putting it out.
Due to the fire, power was cut off in parts of Naga City as a precautionary measure.
