Pregnant Woman, Elderly Man Rescued From Fire

KUALA LUMPUR, July 1 (Bernama) – A pregnant woman and an elderly man were rescued from a fire at a condominium in Taman Bangsar, here, at noon today.
Kuala Lumpur Fire and Rescue assistant director Azizan Ismail said 29 firemen in two engines from the Pantai and Hang Tuah fire stations arrived at the scene 22 minutes after receiving a distress call at 12.49pm.
“When firemen arrived at the scene, they found the fire raging and the smoke was too thick. The fire started in a unit on the 16th floor of the condominium,” he told Bernama when contacted.
Azizan said at the same time, they received a call from an eight-month pregnant woman on the 20th floor.
“We managed to bring her down using a stretcher.”
Firemen also rescued an elderly man who used the stairs to escape. He did not suffer any injury.
