Nine-Year-Old Boy Injures Left Hand In Firecrackers Explosion
Updated: 2015-07-09 12:00

KOTA BAHARU, July 9 (Bernama) — A nine-year-old boy sustained injuries on his left hand in a firecracker explosion at Kampung Kubang Batang, Tumpat, last night.

His father, Mohd Zulkifli Mat Diah, 45, said the incident occurred at 8.30pm when he and his wife were on their way to surau to perform Tarawih prayers.

“My son left the house after breaking fast to buy ‘colek buah’. But when I was on my way to the surau, a friend of mine told me that my son was seriously injured after being struck by a ball firecracker,” he told reporters at the Raja Perempuan Zainab II Hospital (HRPZ II) here today.

The youngest of six siblings suffered serious injuries on his three fingers of his left hand and is currently being treated at HRPZ II.

Mohd Zulkifli said he always advised his children not to play with firecrackers.

Meanwhile, Kelantan police chief Datuk Mazlan Lazim warned that action would be taken against negligent parents, to the extent of causing injuries to their children.
