Three persons, including two children, died in a fire that hit a four-story building in Lian town Tuesday morning, fire officials said yesterday.
Analiza Jonson, 50, suffered head injuries when she jumped from the building. She died while being treated at the Apacible Memorial Hospital.
Jewel Grace Batoto, 12, and John Clifford Batoto, 9, were trapped in their rooms, said Fire Officer 1 Juan Alejandro Vergara.
Six other persons, who suffered burns in various parts of the body, were brought to the Apacible Memorial Hospital.
Initial reports said the fire started around 4 a.m. at Triple J Marketing building on Dilimon street in Barangay Poblacion.
An investigation is ongoing.
