Fire ravaged a warehouse at a factory that makes golf and sports bags in Pathum Thani early Wednesday morning. Damage was estimated at 40 million baht, but there were no injuries reported.
The fire at Durex Corp Co at tambon Na Mai in Lat Lum Kaew district was reported to police about 5am, said Pol Lt Voraphak Supasawat, a duty officer at Lat Lum Kaew police station.
Fire trucks and crews rushed to combat the blaze gutting a storage building in the compound of the factory, which spreads over some 20 rai.
An hour later the fire fighters were still battling the flames and more fire trucks were deployed from nearby districts to help before the fire was eventually brought under control, police said.
Owner Gua Zhi Chuan, 57, a Taiwanese national, said he was sleeping in the office building at the factory compound when he heard workers shouting that there was a fire in the storage building a short time before 5am. He immediately called police.
Kannikar Kesorn, a human resources employee, said the firm manufactured golf and sports bags for well-known brands in Europe and the US. The fire destroyed stored products about to be delivered to customers, she said.
Police were investigating the cause of the blaze. Losses were initially put at 40 million baht. There were no injuries, police said
