Updated: 2015-08-26-17:41

A four-year-old boy has succumbed to burn injuries at the Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) on Wednesday after a four-day battle for survival.

Five members of a family had sustained burns in a fire at Dhaka’s Keraniganj on Saturday.

The child, Abdul Gani, died at the DMCH’s burn unit around 7am, said South Keraniganj police OC Md Manirul Islam.

His parents and two siblings are currently being treated at the same hospital.

In the early hours of Aug 22, a house at South Keraniganj’ Ekuria caught fire. The five were brought to the DMCH early morning Saturday.

Fire service said that an electrical short-circuit may have caused the fire.

Doctors had then said that the child suffered 40 percent burns, while his father 65 percent.
