PUTRAJAYA, Sept 14 (Bernama) — A Firefly flight from Subang to Kerteh scheduled to depart at 5pm today had to be postponed due to the haze in Terengganu.
According to a passenger on the flight, he was informed by an airline official at Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Airport in Subang that the flight was rescheduled to depart at 7.15pm.
“We had already checked in but an airline official announced that the plane could not take off as scheduled,” he said when contacted by Bernama.
He said it was also announced that the plane would be landing in Kuala Terengganu.
“From there (Kuala Terengganu), we will be transported by bus to Kerteh,” he said.
Firefly chief executive officer, Ignatius Ong confirmed the incident and informed that so far only the flight to Kerteh was affected by the haze.
“We had to divert the FY2006 aircraft flight from Subang to Kerteh because visibility is less than 800 metres,” he said.
According to the Department of Environment website, the Air Pollutant Index reading near Kerteh area, which is at Paka, recorded an unhealthy index of 108 as at 5pm today.
