2 fires destroy millions in capital

KATHMANDU: Property worth around millions of rupees was reduced to cinders when fires broke out in two places of the capital on Tuesday.
A fire that broke out on the third floor of Sanibhai Kanaujiya’s house in Dhobichaur due to a clothes iron which was connected to the power socket, destroyed property worth around Rs. 13,80,000 in the wee hours of Tuesday.
Gold ornaments, clothes, Rs. 3 lakh in cash and furniture were destroyed in the fire triggered by the iron at around 1 am this morning.
In the same way, a fire caused by cooking gas leakage at the meat shop of Deepak Aryal (29) operated in the house of Sumitra Basnet at Redhon Bridge, reduced property worth around Rs.8 lakh to ashes.
Aryal permanently hails from Jitpur.
Further investigation into the incidents are underway, police said.
