11 Cars Razed In Workshop Blaze In Gua Musang

GUA MUSANG, Oct 3 (Bernama) — Eleven vehicles were destroyed in a fire at a car repair workshop at fifth mile, Jalan Gua Musang-Kuala Krai here, today, causing losses of RM3 million.
A security guard, Abdul Ghani Jaya, 57, who was in his hut, heard several loud explosions and saw that a workshop, about 200 metres away, was on fire at 4.30 am.
“I quickly alerted a female clerk of the workshop who was staying in a house in front of it. She then contacted the Fire and Rescue Department and the owner of the workshop,” he said when met at the scene here, today.
Meanwhile, Gua Musang Fire and Rescue Department chief senior assistant superintendant Ahmad Nordin Ibrahim said it received a call about the fire at 4.41 am.
He said two fire engines and seven firemen rushed to the scene of the fire and managed to control it in 20 minutes before dousing it. Several volunteer firemen also helped to fight the blaze.
“The cause of the fire is still being investigated,” he said.
