Fire at South City home, none hurt

A massive fire destroyed most of the belongings in a house in South City II on Wednesday afternoon. Fortunately, nobody was home when the fire started. Ten firemen and three tenders took around one hour to douse the fire.
The fire broke out in a second floor house in Block Q1 in mid-afternoon and engulfed the entire floor within minutes. The neighbours called the fire brigade when thick smoke billowed from the furnished apartment which the owner intended to rent out.
“I called the fire station aroud 2.30pm but the fire was already huge by then,” said Rakesh Yadav, who has an office nearby.
“Initial investigation suggests that the fire was caused by a short circuit,” said chief fire officer I S Kashyap
“We have been told that the fire gutted most of the furniture and electronic items inside the house. ,” said house owner Anurag Yadav.
