Couple Suffers RM100,000 Losses After 68 Goats Killed In Blaze

IPOH, Oct 21 (Bernama) — A couple suffered losses amounting to RM100,000 when their goats were burnt death after the pen at Jalan Parit 13, Ayer Deras near Teluk Intan, about 100 kilometres from here, caught fire today.
The wife, Zuraida Hamid, 34, said the fire was discovered by a villager at 5 am and the pen was already ablaze then.
“My husband and I rushed to the pen located one kilometre from our house. By then all 68 goats were already dead,” she told Bernama.
The couple has been breeding goats for 30 years and the animals were sold at between RM950 and RM1,200 each.
Meanwhile, Teluk Intan Fire and Rescue Assistant Superintendent Aizal Amri Abdul Rahman said the station received a call on the incident at 5.30 am.
“Upon arriving at the place, the pen was 95 per cent destroyed and the animals dead,” he said.
The cause of the incident was still being investigated, he said.
