20 families lose homes in Navotas fire
Updated: 2013-04-03-05:05
At least 20 families lost their homes in a fire that hit a residential area in Navotas City shortly before midnight Tuesday.
No one was initially reported in the fire that razed at least 14 houses in Barangay North Bay Boulevard, radio dzBB’s Rodil Vega reported early Wednesday.
The report said firefighters had a hard time battling the blaze because of the narrow streets.
Deputy fire marshal Senior Inspector Ian Manalo was quoted in the report as saying the fire started at Phase 1, Kapitbahayan in Barangay NBBS at 11:05 p.m.
The fire reached the fifth alarm before it was put out before 2:30 p.m., the dzBB report said.
Arson investigators are still determining what caused the fire.
Initial investigation showed the fire started at the house of one Ramon Alvarez. Residents tried to help put out the fire by passing buckets of water. — ELR, GMA News
