Fire hits factory, storage building in Valenzuela City
Updated: 2015-10-28-17:54
A fire hit a factory and storage building in Valenzuela City on Wednesday afternoon.
In his tweets, GMA News’ Ian Cruz said Task Force Bravo was raised for the industrial fire that hit the three-storey establishment, located in Barangay Marulas.
In separate tweets, the local government of Valenzuela said Task Force Bravo was raised at 4:25 p.m.
In his live report on QRT, Cruz quoted the Valenzuela City Fire Department as saying the fire started at around 3 p.m.
Fire was still ongoing as of posting time.
Items in the building are considered highly combustible, as the establishment housed a factory for plastic items like hangers and pails, as well as storage rooms for spare parts and fabric, Cruz said in his live report.
He quoted a resident in the area as saying the fire may have started at the factory.
Last month, another industrial area in the city was hit by a fire that reached fifth alarm.
In May, over 70 people were killed when fire hit the factory of Kentex Manufacturing Corporation in Barangay Ugong.
In July, a special panel of the Department of Justice recommended criminal charges against Valenzuela Mayor Rex Gatchalian, at least five officials from the city government and the local BFP, and the owner of the factory.
